Parker Wheeler Joins The UNH Men's Hockey Blog

I'm excited to announce that Parker Wheeler, the play-by-play broadcaster of UNH men's hockey for WUNH 91.3 FM, has accepted my invitation to write for The UNH Men's Hockey Blog. Beginning with the Wildcats' exhibition game against St. Francis Xavier University, Parker will share his observations and analysis in an ongoing series of game reports.

Parker Wheeler, a UNH senior majoring in Kinesiology with a minor in Journalism, is the Sports Director of the WUNH Sports Department. This season marks his second as the play-by-play announcer of men's hockey. Parker is the on-air host of Wildchats, the Thursday night pregame show from 6-8 PM on WUNH. He is also the play-by-play broadcaster of UNH women's soccer, volleyball, and field hockey for America East TV.

In addition to Parker's extensive knowledge of the UNH hockey program, he's an accomplished player in his own right. He was a goaltender for four years at ConVal Regional High School in Peterborough, NH. In his final two seasons, he was ConVal's starting goalie and was named the First Team All-State goalie for New Hampshire High School Division III in his senior year.

After four seasons of covering all UNH hockey home games and many away games, I'm looking forward to handing the reins over to a student journalist who possesses a unique combination of passion, experience, and insight. I will continue to report on the progress of the team but in a different role. I'm developing a new feature for The UNH Men's Hockey Blog which will begin with the regular season opener against American International College. Stay tuned.
